Point Farm...

This is my “purple and pickets” garden. What used to be a herb garden, is now a purple flower garden. The chives with their purple flowers got to stay!
We’ve been so busy here at the farm. Calving and kidding are done. Planting is done. First cutting of hay is done. We’ve been harvesting rhubarb, asparagus, strawberries, lettuce, broccoli, and cabbage from the garden. Time to stop and smell the roses!
We’re about half-way through kidding season, and getting started calving. Here’s our first calf. We don’t usually get this gray color!
Our first kids of the season have arrived! Lark delivered two doe kids on Friday (2/20). Unfortunately, the little black doe was presented breech, so we had to rearrange things a bit before they could be born. But the kids are healthy and mom is recovering from her difficult delivery. Hurray!
We just got back from a trip to the Florida Keys. It was very nice leaving the central Illinois weather (-25 degrees when we left)! I always enjoy vacations, but once we start for home, I can’t wait to get back. I couldn’t believe how much the does had changed with bigger bellies and some starting to udder up. Even Lina, who isn’t due until April, is getting big! Kidding season is coming! Hurray!
Indy enjoying the snow.
We woke this morning to a snowy winter wonderland!
We finished combining the corn over the weekend. After delivering it to the elevator, we headed back to the field to bale the corn stalks.
